HARVEST & HOLLY FAIR—The Fair will take place on November 22, from 9 to 2.  Can you bake something or make some crafts?  Would you like to rent a table to sell your own items?  Can you make up a basket for the raffles?  If you have questions or ideas, please contact Ellie Downer at 774-262-5882 or email her at mybackyard88@aol.com.

29th ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF LESSONS & CAROLS—The annual Festival of Lessons & Carols will take place on December 14, 2025. We have selected the cantata, “Rise Up! A New Light A-Comin’,” by Lloyd Larson & Pamela Martin. Please consider joining the choir for this special event!

GIFT CARDS - Each year, we collect gift cards to help area families with Thanksgiving costs. We are seeking gift cards in increments of $25.00 from the following retailers: Hannaford’s, Big Y, Wholesome Foods, and Price Chopper.  Please drop off or mail to the church (4 Coldbrook Rd. #12, Oakham, MA  01068) by Nov. 16.  We will also be collecting gift cards for Christmas from Walmart and Target (deadline, Dec. 14).

ADVENT BIBLE STUDY—Beginning on Thursday, Nov. 20, we will have a 4-week Bible Study: 11/20, 12/4, 12/11 and 12/18.  The book to be discussed is Walter Brueggemann’s Names for the Messiah: An Advent Study.  You can find the book online or purchase a copy from the church for $7.00. Please email Carissa (oakhamchurchpastor@gmail.com) if you would like the church to order you a copy.

ADVENT & CHRISTMAS SERVICES-The holiday season is almost here!  Please plan to join us for the following services:  Sunday, November 30 : Hanging of the Greens, the beginning of the Advent Season at 10:00 A.M.; Sunday, December 14: Festival of Lessons and Carols at 7:00 P.M.; Sunday, December 21: Sunday School Christmas Pageant at 10:00 A.M.; Wednesday, December 24: Christmas Eve Service at 7:00 P.M.

BIBLE STUDY—On Tuesday, September 30, we will begin a 6-week study on “Peace: Christian Living in a Violent World” by Mary Farr.  We will see what the Bible and Jesus say about peace, explore peace as a state of being, and what we can do about peace in the community and the world. The exact dates are: 9/30, 10/7, 10/14, 10/21, 10/28, 11/4. Please join us.

LAY MINISTER– We are excited to announce that Carissa Rodriguez is no longer Interim Lay Pastor. She is now officially our Lay Minister. Congratulations Pastor Carissa! While pursuing her divinity degree she will be working closely with Rev. Tim, who will be returning to the pulpit on a monthly basis: Sept. 14, Oct. 26, Nov.30 and Dec. 21.

REV. TIM– If you would like to send a card or note to Rev. Tim during as he continues to recover, please send them to: Rev. Timothy Hanley, Oakham Congregational Church, 4 Coldbrook Rd., Unit 12, Oakham, MA 01068. We will send them on to him.

OFFICE HOURS–Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9-12 (subject to change).  If you have a particular question or need, please call the office and leave a message (508-882-5537) or Dawn’s cell phone (774-479-6697) to ensure that someone will get back to you.

PRAYERS & CARDS—Index cards are available on Sunday mornings at each entrance. Please feel free to add names for prayers, whatever the reason.  If you would like to send cards to parishioners who are unable to attend church, there are lists of addresses on the table downstairs in Fellowship Hall. Please use our CONTACT link if you would like to submit prayer requests online or receive the list of those who might like to receive cards.

DISMAS FAMILY FARM –The second Wednesday of every month our church takes a meal to Dismas Family Farm, providing the main dish, a salad or vegetable, and a dessert.  If you would like to join us or contribute to a meal, please see Dick or Gail Pryce at church or call them at 508-886-4095.

FOOD PANTRY - As we approach the holiday season, and especially when benefits are being cut, please consider bringing a couple of non-perishable food items to the church each Sunday for the Rutland Food Pantry. 

COFFEE HOUR—Items and volunteers are needed for Coffee Hour.  Items can be store-bought or homemade.  They can be dropped off at the church kitchen anytime and left on the counter or in the freezer.  To volunteer to help out, please sign up on the sheet in Fellowship Hall.  Thanks—we love our Coffee Hour!
